Pretty Clogs

Happy Monday!

Bright, fun clogs from Maguba.com. Where were these when I was trying to find Dansko alternatives! These are great if you can take a bit of a heel. Great holiday gift. I think I might add the pink pair to my Christmas list.

I don't know about you but I am strategizing how to stay warm this winter and also love what I'm wearing at the same time. I can see myself wearing these with cozy socks this winter when there isn't snow on the ground!

Northern Delights

And oh, are they a delight! I love Scandinavian design.

This book in now at the top of my Christmas list. I love these images already. Right up my alley - simple, clean, minimalist, nature-inspired.

Sorry the images are so small. The book is coming from overseas and doesn't seem wildly popular here yet. Here's a quick write up:

"Northern Delights reveals why hardly any other interior or product design is so timeless, so functional, so aesthetic, and of such high quality as that of Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark. The book’s stunning selection of Scandinavian design ranges from individual products to skillfully staged living spaces. Although it also presents iconic designs, the book focuses on the work of young talents who are consciously building upon local sustainable design traditions and further developing them in a way that is consistent, intelligent, and reflects an unerring sense of style."

I underlined an important part of this passage. Local sustainable design. So important. I am trying to weave these words into my design approach as much as possible. Still exploring how to truly do this but I am just glad it's a concept that's becoming popular.

What about you? What's on the top of your Christmas list?

H E L K A T

I was starting a post today about calendars for the new year when I came across these sweet homemade hand printed pillows from an artist on Etsy. Each one is separately hand printed and one of a kind. Aren't they great? This artist is from the UK. Here is a direct link to her Etsy shop:  HELKATDESIGN. They average around $54 and you will find over 124 different pillow designs on her Etsy site.

My favorite is the lone red wolf pillow below. Wouldn't he be striking on almost any piece of furniture?

Cool Canoe and last minute stuff

First, anyone need an original gift? Ofcourse you may not receive this in time for the holiday, but if you're having a New Year's party - how perfect!  These are wood cutting boards and serving boards - maple, oak and cherry from Canoe.  Staright from the tree, no glue, no parts, no splitting. Very cool. They range from $18-$28. You could almost pop one up on a mantel as a piece of art.

Second, have you guys heard about Ted? It's an online source of inspirational and educational lectures, presentations and videos.  In their words, "they are a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading". Not that any of us really need another excuse to spend more time on the internet, but the site looks interesting with lectures from sports figures, entertainers, business people (Bill Gates), professors, the list goes on and on.  I spent a few minutes browsing through and need a bit more time, but there were many topics I was interested in and will spend more time on the site soon.

Third, I'll leave you with this for the day. Aren't these sweet? You can pick these up at PlanetFur on Etsy. I almost can't post about these without buying one.

Protect your loved one

My husband Peter bought me an iPad for my birthday.  Woohoo. You can say I'm officially an Apple nut. I've acquired so many Apple gadgets it's odd and slightly uncharacteristic of me, but what can I say, I love their products. So ofcourse I immediatly started thinking about how to protect this thing. And ofcourse the average boring black cover case will not do. I had to find something hip. Well, here's what I found. Aren't these great?  Although the funky hand-made fabrics below are very cool, I really love the bamboo case at the bottom. Sturdy, eco and sleek.

What do you think? Anything out there that I'm missing?
